About Margaret King

Margaret King I have always loved anything creative, artistic or subjects requiring a vivid imagination. I am the youngest of 4 siblings and the only girl. I began dabbling in art projects very young in life and have included design work in later years. I do have a very creative side and from time to time have realized that is not a bad thing. Even though I am somewhat self taught as an artist, I have been open to workshops locally and as well been a part of adult classes at a local community college. I began painting several years ago and did sell my art, actually most all of my art. As I became very busy in my career, I put my artistic abilities aside for "making a living" in the Real Estate and building profession. Aproximately 3 years ago, I picked up the brush again and have hopefully created some interesting pieces of work. I love to paint animals one of which I donated to Vanderbilt Children's hospital, and that would be my own Border Collie. I have as well donated to my local hospital, a large Methodist church, a school and am presently finishing a piece for a group of legal students in the Memphis area.
I am presently doing some abstracts and love ocean or water scenes. When painting animals it is my intention to create a feeling in their expression, especially the eyes. Some my interpit it as a signal the subject in the painting offers. I want these animals to "say something" to you. Did I mention, I so enjoy painting children's back profiles. I concentrate on the hair length and colorso that a child can easily imagine themselves in that painting. Art is alot of fun for me, especially when someone asks "how did you do that"? I always explain, I really didn't, the brush did it. Thank you for viewing my work. Please enjoy.
